You’ve been thinking about your health and boosting your immune system… and you’ve heard having a healthy morning smoothie or a smoothie routine can be beneficial and pack a lot of benefits, right? Right!
So, you begin the search for “best healthy smoothies” and boom! You are flooded with smoothie recipes, and green juice, and green smoothies, a thousand different protein powders, and don’t forget about the greens, and the chia and the flax and… should we keep going!?
It can all be so overwhelming and exhausting! In no way am I a doctor or a medical professional, but, I am a busy mom and business owner, that also wants to make sure I’m doing all that I can to stay healthy and feed my body the things it needs.
So, I’m here to share my own personal smoothie routine, some favorite recipes, and tips I’ve learned to make this whole “smoothie situation” simple, quick and easy (because we all need that!)
A snapshot of my smoothie ingredients! Just add frozen fruit!
Before we get to a couple of my favorite recipes, here are a few TIPS I’ve learned along the way…
Fruit – BUY and USE FROZEN FRUIT! It is WAY more economical to buy frozen fruit for your smoothies. It lasts longer, is frozen at the perfect ripeness, and you don’t end up throwing it away like you sometimes do with fresh fruit! You can also buy frozen greens!
Bananas – great for smoothies! Cut your banana into smaller slices, put it in a freezer bag, and freeze to use in your smoothies! SO YUMMY!
Keep your smoothie supplies together. It took me a while to learn this one, and it makes a HUGE difference in the simplicity of making your smoothie. I have a shelf in a cupboard above my pantry, dedicated to my smoothie ingredients/supplies. This includes all the ingredients/add ins as well as my blender and cups! Find yourself a dedicated space in your kitchen to keep your supplies together. I’ve taken it one step further and have a bin/storage container that fits all of my smoothie items inside. So, when I go to make a smoothie, I take out my blender and my storage bin full of ALL my smoothie things, and I am ready to make my smoothie! SO SIMPLE and, when I use my storage bins, I feel like I’m on an episode of The Home Edit, so there’s that
Smoothie add ins… you can add so many different things to your smoothies that have amazing health benefits. Flax seed, chia seed, maca powder, are just a few things that I add. Again, look up these add ins on Google, and choose what’s right for you. The cool thing about add ins is that most of the time, you don’t taste them when drinking your smoothie, but you still get all of their benefits!
Ok ok, you’ve waited long enough. Here are a couple of my FAVORITE recipes. I usually alternate between these two recipes all week long!
